A Day in the Life of a Recruiter

Being a recruiter in GCL Group is like being a matchmaker between clients and candidates for the construction world. Every day brings a new set of challenges, from finding the right talent to ensuring they fit seamlessly into a company’s culture. The job is fast-paced, dynamic, and highly rewarding.

Mornings often start with sourcing candidates—scanning job boards, LinkedIn, and databases to identify potential hires. The thrill of discovering that perfect match is what drives us. We advertise our jobs through LinkedIn Posts & indeed and via our new website. Getting our ritual coffee in the morning is essential to keep energy levels high.

Communication is vital in our role; we constantly communicate with our potential candidates and clients and listen to their needs. We conduct screening calls with our candidates. The aim of these calls is to evaluate the candidates’ skills and their motivation and aspirations for a new role.

The afternoon is very proactive, we are always collaborating as a team to discuss opportunities each of our clients have and working together to help our candidates and clients fulfil their needs.

However, recruiting isn’t just about filling positions. It’s about building relationships and making a real impact. Helping someone land their dream job or finding a company where they feel a real sense of belonging and passion for their new role is what makes this job so fulfilling.

Being a recruiter means being adaptable, empathetic, resilient and always being ready to face the next challenge head-on.
